About This Tour
The Gastro–Wine Tour of Armenia is a harmonious journey where the country’s ancient history, spiritual monuments, and rich cuisine are revealed through taste and atmosphere.
You will discover Yerevan and its traditions, try legendary Armenian dishes and the finest wines from local wineries. The route takes you through the sacred sites of Etchmiadzin and Geghard, the majestic temples of Garni and Zvartnots, and picturesque valleys and monasteries hidden in the mountains.
A special place in the program is given to tastings of Armenian wines and brandy, as well as authentic culinary traditions — from dolma and khashlama to the famous kyufta.
This tour is not just a trip, but an immersion into the soul of Armenia, where every day is filled with flavor, history, and warm hospitality.
Itinerary
Day 1: Zvartnots – Yerevan City Tour
Meeting at Zvartnots Airport and transfer to the hotel. After rest — walking city tour of Yerevan. At the end of the walk, you will enjoy a tasting of one of the most famous Armenian dishes — dolma.
Dolma is minced meat with rice wrapped in grape leaves or stuffed vegetables (eggplant, tomato, etc.).
Then — excursion to the Yerevan Brandy Factory, including introduction to brandy production technology, visit to the cellars “Presidents’ Alley,” and tasting of two types of brandy. Return to the hotel.
Day 2: Yerevan – Garni – Geghard – Old Winery – Yerevan
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit to the Matenadaran — the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts.
Trip to Garni and Geghard historical monuments. Garni was the summer residence of Armenian kings. Here is the 1st-century pagan Temple of the Sun — a unique monument of the Hellenistic era.
Continue to Geghard Monastery (12th–13th centuries), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The monastery was founded in the 4th century near a sacred spring emerging from a cave, originally called Ayrivank — “cave monastery.” According to tradition, it was founded by Saint Gregory the Illuminator. Some parts of the complex are carved directly into the rock, with numerous khachkars and stone reliefs preserved.
Visit to OLD WINERY, producing high-quality Armenian wines from selected grapes of the Armavir and Ararat regions. Wine tasting of three types.
End of the day with traditional Armenian khashlama — meat cooked with fresh vegetables and herbs. Return to the hotel.
Day 3: Yerevan – Etchmiadzin – Zvartnots – Maran – Yerevan
Breakfast at the hotel. Trip to Etchmiadzin — the spiritual and administrative center of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Visit to Etchmiadzin Cathedral (4th century), then Saint Hripsime Church (7th century).
Visit to Zvartnots Temple (7th century).
On this day you will try Etchmiadzin kyufta — pride of Armenian cuisine. According to tradition, selected veal is beaten for a long time on a stone surface using wooden mallets until a smooth mass is formed with salt and water, then shaped into balls and boiled.
Visit to Maran Winery. The history of the estate dates back to 1828–1830 when the Maran family migrated from Persia to Vayots Dzor and started winemaking traditions. In 1991, descendant Avag Harutyunyan revived the family legacy. Wine tasting of five types. Return to the hotel.
Day 4: Yerevan – Khor Virap – Noravank – Areni Winery – Yerevan
Departure to Khor Virap Monastery, located near the Turkish border, offering a stunning view of Mount Ararat. Visit to Saint Astvatsatsin Church (17th century), connected to important pages of Armenian spiritual history.
Continue to Noravank Monastery, uniquely located on a red rocky canyon cliff — one of the most scenic and atmospheric places in Armenia.
Stop in Areni village, famous for ancient winemaking traditions. Visit a local winery or tasting center for Armenian wine tasting of three types.
Dish of the day: Armenian shashlik (khorovats) — a symbol of national cuisine. Pork or lamb pieces are marinated in spices for several hours and grilled over charcoal, gaining rich flavor and aroma.
Return to Yerevan. Overnight in hotel.
Day 6: Yerevan – Zvartnots – Departure
Transfer to Zvartnots Airport and departure.
