About This Tour
This is an exciting journey through Georgia and Armenia, where ancient history, majestic nature, and rich cultural heritage are harmoniously intertwined. From the atmospheric streets of Tbilisi and the wine regions of Kakheti to the sacred monasteries of Mtskheta, the panoramas of Kazbegi, and the ancient cave city of Uplistsikhe, the soul of Georgia is revealed.
Then the route leads to Armenia — a land of mountains, lakes, and spiritual sanctuaries. Here travelers will discover the monasteries of Haghpat, Sevanavank, and Geghard, the picturesque Lake Sevan, the wine traditions of Areni, and the vibrant, hospitable city of Yerevan.
An ideal combination of history, nature, spirituality, and unforgettable landscapes of two amazing Caucasian countries.
Itinerary
Day 1: Tbilisi – Evening City Tour
Arrival at Tbilisi International Airport and transfer to the hotel. Check-in and rest. Lunch at the hotel or a local restaurant.
In the afternoon — walking tour of Old Tbilisi, starting from the Abanotubani sulfur baths district, the historical heart of the city. According to legend, Tbilisi was founded here. The route continues to the Legvtakhevi waterfall, a hidden natural spot with cliffs and traditional architecture built along the gorge. You will also see the city’s only Sunni mosque, reflecting Tbilisi’s cultural diversity.
Then the walk continues through narrow streets of the Old Town to Metekhi Bridge and up to Metekhi Church (13th century), located on a rocky bank of the Kura River. This site is associated with Saint Shushanik, the first Georgian Christian martyr. Nearby stands the equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of Tbilisi.
Next is a cable car ride to Narikala Fortress (4th century), offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city, especially at sunset and night. Descent to Rike Park and a walk across the modern Bridge of Peace designed by Michele De Lucchi.
Visit to Sioni Cathedral, which keeps the Cross of Saint Nino. Then walk along Shardeni Street, a lively pedestrian area with cafés, wine bars, galleries, and restaurants, often compared to a small version of the Champs-Élysées.
Here you will also see the monument to filmmaker Sergei Parajanov and a small sculpture of the traditional Georgian toastmaster.
Free time. Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 2: Tbilisi – Bodbe – Sighnaghi – Khareba Winery – Tbilisi
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Kakheti, the wine region of Georgia.
First stop — Bodbe Monastery (4th century), dedicated to Saint Nino, the enlightener of Georgia. Her burial site is located here. Nearby is a holy spring with healing water.
Then visit to Sighnaghi, one of the most beautiful towns in Georgia, known as the “City of Love.” It offers panoramic views of the Alazani Valley and features a historic fortress wall. Walk through cobblestone streets and enjoy lunch.
Afterwards, visit Khareba Winery, founded in 1962. The winery is located in natural tunnels maintaining a constant temperature of 12–16°C, ideal for wine storage. The complex includes tunnels capable of storing up to 26,000 bottles of wine.
Return to Tbilisi. Overnight in hotel.
Day 3: Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Stalin Museum – Uplistsikhe – Border Transfer
Breakfast at the hotel.
Visit to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia and a major spiritual center. Visit Jvari Monastery (6th century) with panoramic views of the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers. Then visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century), a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Continue to Gori and visit the Joseph Stalin Museum, including his childhood house, personal belongings, photographs, documents, and his armored railway carriage.
Then visit Uplistsikhe, an ancient rock-hewn cave city, one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus.
After the excursion, transfer to the Georgian–Armenian border.
Crossing at Bagratashen checkpoint.
Overnight in guesthouse in Haghpat.
Day 4: Haghpat – Sanahin – Sevanavank – Yerevan
Breakfast at guesthouse.
Visit Haghpat and Sanahin monasteries (10th–14th centuries), UNESCO World Heritage Sites and major centers of medieval Armenian culture and learning.
Lunch at a local restaurant.
Continue to Lake Sevan — the “blue pearl of Armenia,” one of the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in the world. Visit Sevanavank Monastery (9th century) with panoramic lake views.
Arrival in Yerevan and hotel check-in.
Day 5: Yerevan – Garni – Geghard – Matenadaran – City Tour
Breakfast at hotel.
Trip to Garni Fortress and Geghard Monastery, with a stop at Charents Arch offering a view of Mount Ararat.
Garni Temple (1st century AD) is the only preserved pagan structure in Armenia and a summer residence of Armenian kings.
Geghard Monastery (12th–13th centuries), carved into rock, is famous for its architecture and acoustics. According to legend, it once kept the spear that pierced Christ.
Lunch at a national restaurant.
Visit to Matenadaran — one of the world’s largest manuscript repositories.
City tour of Yerevan: Cascade, Republic Square, David of Sassoun statue, and Tsitsernakaberd Memorial.
Return to hotel. Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 6: Yerevan – Khor Virap – Noravank – Areni – Yerevan
Breakfast at hotel.
Visit Khor Virap Monastery with stunning views of Mount Ararat.
Continue to Noravank Monastery, located in a dramatic red-rock canyon.
Lunch.
Visit Areni Cave (Bird Cave), where the world’s oldest leather shoe was discovered.
Wine tasting in Areni village at a local winery.
Return to Yerevan. Overnight in hotel.
Day 7: Yerevan – Ararat Brandy Factory – Zvartnots – Etchmiadzin – Airport
Breakfast at hotel.
Visit Ararat Brandy Factory with tour of production, cellars, and tasting of Armenian brandy.
Visit Zvartnots Temple (7th century), UNESCO World Heritage Site ruins.
Trip to Etchmiadzin — spiritual center of Armenia. Visit Etchmiadzin Cathedral (4th century), Saint Hripsime Church (7th century), and the Treasury Museum.
Lunch.
Transfer to Zvartnots International Airport. Departure.
